I know the title sounds like clickbait. But here at the MFF, we're not into clickbait. This is completely true, and actually quite simple, so hear me out, insha'Allah.
One day, I am going to die. When I die, my estate will go to my inheritors. But before it does, if I did not bother making an adequate will, up to 40% of my estate beyond £325,000 could be going to the taxman.
That means if I leave behind half a million, after £325,000, from the remaining £175,000, 40% could go to the taxman. That is £70,000 lost out of the £500,000 — money that could have gone to my family, sadaqah, or something far more meaningful.
And while I gave my own example, it also applies to you and everyone else living in the UK. (Oh, and other countries also have their very own inheritance tax laws too.)
To help make sure this doesn’t happen to you, we’ve put together a completely free Estate Tracker and Tax Calculator.
Using it is simple:
➡️ Click here to make your own editable copy
✅ Fill in your details (no one can see them but you)
✅ It will automatically show you how much inheritance tax you could be liable for without a will
✅ It will also help you keep a full record of your assets and debts to make the inheritance process easy for your family after your demise.
What’s inside:
-
📋 Asset Tracker – Keep a record of all your assets
-
📋 Debt Tracker – Record any outstanding debts
-
📊 Tax Without Will – See how much tax could be lost
-
💷 Tax Saved With Will – See the difference a proper will could make
Important:
-
Only fill in the yellow-highlighted cells; the rest calculates automatically.
-
We've filled in a fictional example to show you how to use it — just delete it and replace it with your details.
-
This tool does not calculate Islamic inheritance shares (those depend on your surviving heirs at the time of death).
Save your copy safely, use it wisely, and protect what Allah has entrusted you with.
May Allah give us all tawfiq to prepare properly for the hereafter.
